Famous Insurance Claims That Will Put A Smile On Your Face
Insurance Claims Chicago: These claims might make you smile, but they surely made the lives of the insuring agents very difficult. If you have ever wondered what the most queer and absurd claims are, this article helps you make an idea.
We’ve put together four of the most famous insurance claims that have surrounded the world. Even if they weren’t filed in Chicago, Glenview, Hanover Park, Highland Park, Lincolnwood, they’re still a good read.
The TV shooter
The list opens up with the case of a man who shot his own TV and then filed an insurance claim. Interestingly, he was given credit for his claim because a professional gun restorer was able to prove that the shot was accidental.
Magpie, the burglar
Another interesting case is the claim of a man who had his eyeglasses stolen by a bird, a magpie, to be more precise. From the man’s own home, his story goes like this: the unfortunate man laid his eyeglasses down for a second; then, the magpie quickly flew through the window and bye –bye eyeglasses!
The cigar smoker
This is probably in the top of the most famous insurance claims. The main character, an American lawyer, insured his expensive pack of cigars. Then he smoked them. Then he filed a claim asking to be reimbursed. He said that his cigars were lost in a series of small fires (really?) and that this was covered in his insurance policy.
Steam is water
A couple had their washing machine stuck on high heat, which resulted in a steamy kitchen and, eventually, a lot of damage to their furniture. Although the insurance company said they weren’t covered for steam damage, they were covered for water (which is the same thing, right?). So the insurance company had no choice but to provide coverage for their losses.
